Actress Kareena Kapoor has now become the top most heroine of Bollywood and has touched the dream figure of Rs 3.5 crore per film, thanks to the recent success of her film 'Jab We Met'. Speaking about it, the bubbly girl was pretty stoic about it and said that she is not too keen on the spots but more keen on giving the best in her films through her hard work and commitment.

The next few films lined up for her include 'Tashan' with Akshay and Saif, ' Golmaal Returns' with Ajay Devgan, 'Kambakht Ishq' with Akshay and 'Agent Vinod' with Saif to name a few. She has brushed aside the thoughts of her marriage right now but maintained that her new love Saif has been very supportive about her career.

She is right now totally into her films and said that marriage can wait. Well, there is no professional growth for Shahid Kapoor at all. He is deprived of love and career as well.

'Singh Is Kinng' goes places

Vipul Shah’s Akshay – Katrina starrer SINGH IS KINNG, directed by Anees Bazmee, is truly going places. The cast and crew has just returned from Australia after completing 50% shooting of the film and while you’re reading this, the makers have embarked on another major schedule in Mumbai. Once the Mumbai schedule concludes, the unit will shift to Punjab and for yet another schedule, in Egypt.

“It’s my most accomplished film so far. Working on this film has been an incredible experience,” Vipul Shah sounds elated, “Earlier, I was producing and directing my films, but this time, I am merely playing the producer’s part. I feel enriched by the experience.”

Ghai signs Sunny, Bobby

Subhash Ghai is expanding his horizons further. Having announced a slew of projects with a number of stars, Ghai has now added the Deol brothers to Mukta Arts’ family. The Showman has signed Sunny and Bobby for two separate projects, to be launched in August and October, 2008. Incidentally, Sunny is already starring in Mukta Arts’ RIGHT YA WRONG, being directed by Neeraj Pathak, the writer of Ghai’s PARDES and Anil Sharma’s APNE.

Meanwhile, Ghai begins the year 2008 with BOMBAY TO BANGKOK, which is slated for release on 11th January.

Ahmed Khan turns producer

Not just actors, even directors are turning to film production. The latest to do so is choreographer-director Ahmed Khan, who has directed two films in the past -- LAKEER and FOOL N FINAL. In fact, a mammoth set of a school is being constructed in Mumbai’s Film City for the first schedule of his new film.

“It’s about the relationship between students and teachers, between teachers and principal, between principal and trustees of the school,” Ahmed, who’s shooting in Hyderabad, confirms. Is it on the lines of TAARE ZAMEEN PAR? “No, it’s different. The similarity is that my film will also star children in central roles,” he states. In fact, Ahmed and his team has already auditioned more than a thousand children for the 9/10 principal characters.

Ahmed has also roped in friends like Shahid Kapur, Vivek Oberoi, Ayesha Takia, Nana Patekar and Paresh Rawal for significant roles. “They’re family to me. In fact, when I disclosed the [production] plans to them, their instantaneous reaction was, why aren’t we in the film? They’ve stood by me always and it’s very sweet of them to be a part of my first film,” Ahmed divulges. Incidentally, the actors play teachers in this film.

Produced by Ahmed’s wife Shaira Khan under the banner of Paper Doll Entertainment [the company has made videos in the past], the film is scripted by Milind Ukey. Hanif, who rendered the popular song ‘Ye Dooriyan’ in FOOL N FINAL, will score the music of the film. “Shahid loves the tunes that Hanif has composed for the film. It’s fantastic,” Ahmed states. Adlabs is backing the project.

Salman's call to Amrita

Amrita Rao received a surprise call from, hold your breath, Salman Khan on Friday night. Amrita, who’s shooting in Jaisalmer for Anil Kapoor’s film, flew to Mumbai to partake in the music launch celebrations of MY NAME IS ANTHONY GONSALVES. Looking radiant, the pretty actress received compliments aplenty during the music launch.

Salman, who was shooting in Hyderabad for Boney Kapoor’s film, was watching the music launch on television and promptly called Amrita, showering generous compliments on her. “I was pleasantly surprised when he called. In fact, Boney-ji, who was also with him, also spoke,” Amrita reveals excitedly.

Sanjay Dutt resumes shooting on Wednesday

Contrary to the reports everywhere, Sanjay Dutt was never meant to resume shooting on Tuesday 11 December.

"It was always December 12," says producer Suniel Shetty whose film EMI (Easy Monthly Installments) Dutt returns to. "And we go on shooting for the entire month. It's so wonderful to have Baba back. He's been through so much. All of us who care for him only want the ordeal to end for him," says Suniel who returned from Turkey earlier this week from supervising the production of Mission Istanbul.

"What Apoorva has shot is amazing. That’s all I want to say about this film right now," says Suniel. Mission Istanbul is the most expensive film Suniel's production house, Popcorn Entertainment, has ever shot.

Indra Kumar plans to launch his daughter

Indra Kumar, one of the most celebrated filmmakers in the industry, is all geared up to launch his daughter Shweta in his next venture. Also, the buzz doing rounds is that Madhuri Dixit may be signed for the film.

Indra Kumar and Madhuri Dixit have churned out some of the biggest blockbusters such as Dil and Beta. As far as the buzz about them teaming up again is concerned, Indra Kumar says, “Nothing has been finalized as of now. I had a word with Madhuri over the phone and we would definitely work together if the final script demands her for the role.”

Indra is very excited about the acting debut of his daughter. “Yes, I am all excited to introduce my daughter Shweta in my next film. However, again, the script has not been finalized”, states Indra.

Nevertheless, after the success of Dhamaal, Indra Kumar and his partner Ashok Thakeria are leaving no stone unturned to make the sequel titled Phir Dhamaal.

Malaika Arora does an item number in Welcome

Malaika Arora, the sexy diva of Bollywood, is all set to sizzle yet again in an item number. This time, she’ll be seen shaking a leg with Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor in Anees Bazmee’s Welcome.

Malaika was last seen in Om Shanti Om in the famous song ‘Deewangi’ featuring 31 stars. She also did a cameo in the ‘Mohabbat Man’ scene in the film.

Anil Kapoor and Feroz Khan have played fantastic characters. This is my fourth film with Akshay which I had signed even before ‘Namastey London’, so it was great fun."

But was there any discord between her and co-star Mallika Sherawat?

"No, no, we have hardly any scenes together. We hardly ever met. She comes in the second half of the film. She's a temptress, who is playing between Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar. She's very different and funny in the film".

And did Mallika try to copy Katrina's hairstyle and clothes in ‘Welcome’ as was reported? Katrina plays safe with her answer. "Everybody has his/her own way of working. So let them live it the way they want to. Live and let live. I have nothing to say about it. I don't think it bothers me," she says trying to put rumours to rest.

There were also talks about Katrina getting a Gucci dress as a gift. She snaps, "I am tired of telling everyone it's not Gucci but Emilio Pucci. People have got it all wrong.

I had seen this dress on a magazine cover so I went to their store in Worli but since it was very expensive, I didn't buy it. It was sweet of them to gift it to me. But I am not going to visit Emilio Pucci in Italy. Then too I hope they gift me more dresses".

After ‘Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya’, Katrina is doing Subhash Ghai's ‘Yuvraaj’ where Salman is cast opposite her. "It's a comedy and I am looking forward to this film. It's something very special.

It's all about the equation between a boy's character and a girl's character. Subhashji is presenting it very nicely. It was a huge learning experience for me".

And then was the time to get a little personal. Salman Khan will be immortalized in wax very soon and we had to know Katrina's reaction. Katrina was also cleverly happy telling, "It's wonderful. I am very glad for him since he has represented the industry for so many years. He is popular here and I am happy for him".
