People talk dirty about Ramu-Nisha

Despite the "Aag" debacle, Ram Gopal Verma is still one of the most respected directors in Bollywood. But his bouts of unreasonable behaviour have irked some unit members of his latest film "Go".

A member of the unit said on condition of anonymity: "Ram Gopal Verma used to arrive on the sets late. Then he would say that he wanted to discuss a few things with leading lady Nisha Kothari.

The two would enter Nisha's make-up van and come out only after 2-3 hours. This happened for 4 to 5 consecutive days, resulting in a delay in shooting of the climax of the movie by four days."

The delay used to disturb everybody on the sets as all preparations had to be kept on hold for hours. Each delay would add to the previous day's delay and put more and more pressure on the cast and crew of the film, which has newcomer Gautam Gupta opposite Nisha.

The source added: "Every time RGV used to disappear into Nisha's make-up van, things would get worse outside as Gautam and the rest of the unit members would be ready for the shot.

Reportedly, Ramuji and Nisha's parleys haunted their shoot at Goa too. "Everybody had then dismissed it as a one-time incident which won't recur. But then it did, not once, but many times," the source lamented.

Nisha has been one of Ram Gopal Verma's favourite heroines. Rumours were also doing the rounds that Verma is picking and dropping Nisha home a bit too often. What's cooking between the mentor and his discovery?

I buy my lingerie from London: Nisha Kothari

I buy my lingerie from London : Nisha Kothari

Q: What is your definition of fashion?
A: It could be defined as something in which you, as an individual, are comfortable in and confident about, something which suits your attitude.

Q: Where do you mostly shop from?
A: I am an impulsive buyer and buy things even from the streetside. But I like to shop in Dubai.

Q: Any specific brands you prefer?
A: No, I'm not a brand-conscious person, but I like Versace.

Q: While at home, you mostly wear…
A: Track suits, shorts, t-shirts and comfortable things like that.

Q: Your gym wear is…
A: Again, it would be track suits, t-shirts and jackets.

Q: Do you go for the formal look at times?
A: I love the formal look. I have so many formal clothes that sometimes I'm in a fix about what to wear to parties.

Q: What's your casual look?
A: I think it would depend upon the place or the occasion.

Q: What do you prefer for evening wear?
A: A nice dress and jacket, but then again it depends on the place and occasion.

Q: What about night wear?
A: Anything in cotton because it is very comfortable.

Q: Do you adorn yourself with accessories?
A: Yes, they go well with dresses but I like exquisite and expensive ones. I like gold, diamond and pearls like any other girl.

Q: Which brands do you favour for footwear?
A: I have never thought of this but I like to wear comfortable footwear.

Q: What are the make-up products that you use?
A: I love lipsticks. I have 250 of them. The brands which I prefer are Mac and Body Basics.

Q: Which is the latest perfume that you bought?
A: I have bought three of them together; one each from Burburry, Armani and Christian Dior.

Q: Brand you prefer for lingerie?

I still haven't got any good role: Nisha Kothari

She debuted in Bollywood with James and then slowly displaced oomph girl Urmila Matondkar from Ram Gopal Varma's camp. Unfortunately, Nisha Kothari is still looking for a hold in tinsel town. Now, the actress is pinning her hopes on Aag, Varma's remake of Sholay, in which she plays the character of Basanti.

Q: How different is the character Ghungroo from the original Basanti?
A: Ghungroo is a totally versatile character and her facial expressions change with every scene. She is the tapori type who does not care about anyone and is highly impressed by superhero Rajnikant. She loves Laila, the autorickshaw that she drives and is addicted to bidis.

You can say that Basanti and Ghungroo have the same flavour, but their attitudes and looks are very different. The viewers will not say that my character is similar to Basanti.

Q: Do you feel Ghungroo will be as popular as Basanti?
A: That can be known only after the movie's release. For example, Samba was a small character in Sholay but he has become immortal. I have done my best in Aag, now the viewers will decide.

Q: How was the experience of working with so many actors?
A: I have learnt a lot from all the actors in this film. It has helped me grow as a person.

Q: Any interesting incident on the sets that you can recall?
A: I have a bad memory, so I cannot recall any such incident.

Q: Another film of yours, Go, is finally ready for release…
A: I know it has taken a long time, but I'm relieved that it is finally ready for release. I'm waiting eagerly for this film. I had started shooting for this film when I did James.

Q: Can you tell us a little about Go?
A: It's a fun-filled romantic film of the 70s. I have been cast opposite newcomer Gautam. I cannot tell you anything else about this film since I have been asked not to divulge details.

Q: Why did it take so long to complete the film?
A: It is all depends on destiny. Some films take less time to complete, while others take a longer time. Actually, Ramu did not like a few sequences which had to re-shot.

Q: Do you want to work with any other film-maker besides Ram Gopal Varma?
A : I had got a lot of offers after my first film but I did not like them. I want to get things right. Unfortunately, I still have not got any role which really attracts me. -Rajnee Gupta

Nisha Kothari will feature in special appearance in Ram Gopal Varma’s film Darling. She features in an item number with Fardeen Khan

Ram Gopal Varma's forthcoming film Darling starring Fardeen Khan, Esha Deol and Isha Koppikar has a surprise addition. Ramu's latest muse Nisha Kothari is also a part of Darling but in the form of a promotional music video for the film.

However, this video will not be part of the movie and will be used only for promos. Its music has been done by Pritam and choreographed by Remo. Says the sizzling actress, “It is just a song which is not part of the film. I have shot for a music video that will be used for the promotion of Darling. Ramuji asked me to do that and I agreed. I would not do any item numbers unless I feel like doing it. The song has been picturised on me and Fardeen Khan. We have shot this song in three days.”

Nisha has only one release this year as she hasn't signed any film apart from Ram Gopal Varma Ke Aag in which she plays Ghungroo. “My character is a replacement of Basanti. You can't compare her with Basanti, as Ghungroo is completely different from her. Everything is different from set up to the character. Ghungroo is a versatile character. She is a fan of Rajnikant. She is a tomboy and carefree kind of girl. She loves to smoke and drives auto rickshaw. RGVKA is complete and will release next month.”

Ram Gopal Varma Ke Aag stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan, Prashant Raj and Sushmita Sen. Doesn't Nisha feel she will be overshadowed by Sushmita's presence in the film? “Well, Sushmita is main heroine of the film. I am just a character. Ghungroo is not part of the main story. The story is all about Sushmita's family and Baban. My expectations are same as I expected from James and from Killer. This is my third film with RGV and it's been a very good experience working with him. He is very simple and honest person. He knows what he wants from an actor. If Ramuji offers me an interesting role, I'll definitely choose to do it. At the same time I would like to work with other people as well” she signs off.
